Singing Canada Day AnthemMohawk Raceway | With legendary pianist Norm Amadio.I loved working with Norm. He never liked wearing his glasses in later years and wouldn't read charts. LOL In 2004, I did a project called "A Tribute to Canadian Jazz Composers" which was never recorded because FACTOR declined my proposal. But doing the demo, I sang the only song Norm ever wrote called "I Want Some Fun". He signed me the publishing rights on that fun song which he composed in 2001. | |

A Personal Reflection from Kathy
When I began my singing career in 1977 as I was a music major in HUmber College, I had no idea of the fascinating mix of challenges, discovery, frustration, fulfillment and exhaustion lie ahead. Being a professional entertainer is a full-time job.
I have learned to become a self-starter, thanks to mentors and those who inspire me to excel. While we work and use our creative skill sets, we build strength as we immerse ourselves in dedication and persistence. It's like a muscle you build and it is a part of your lifestyle.
When you believe and manifest passion on the journey as you pursue your life's goal(s), work and practice become a way of life and an integral part of each day. You grow to love practice and work with your soul.
All any of us can gravitate towards is giving back to our community, creating a good life for you and your family, and living in positivity and growth so that we can leave the world a better place because we were here. When I go to sleep each night, I rest knowing that I did my best that day. But being a "workaholic" can cause anyone to burn out. It's important to strike balance in one's life and schedule down time as well.
I want to thank everyone who has touched my life. You have been my teachers and we were connected somehow. We enter each other's lives for a reason that may not be apparent to us at the time. Some people are life-long friends, some only grace our presence briefly. Some people we encounter again later in life if there is some "unfinished business" ! We are all teachers and students for each other. It is the sum of our adventures - and what we make of them - that makes us the person we are today and will become tomorrow.
I look forward to continuing my own journey of personal and professional evolution. I also look forward to being of true service to others in the time I have been blessed with in this life. "
